lost & found

As we all know, dogs are great escape artists. Sometimes in their zeal to explore new territory they get separated from us and no matter how much yelling we do, they don't come back. A friend once lost his collie while fishing. With little fanfare he emptied his wallet and placed it on a rock after shouting himself hoarse. When I asked him what he was doing, he replied, "leaving a message." Sure enough, when we returned the next day there was the dog, a little discheveled from his night in the woods, but otherwise not too bad off. Fortunately this story had a happy ending with a lesson attached. Simply, if your dog gets lost or separated from you, leave something with your smell on it. They usually return to the spot where they last saw you.

Sometimes, however, we can't get back to them. That's when we have to rely on the kindness of strangers. In an effort to help people who have lost their dogs, this page has been added to going to the dogs. Please feel free to post your dog here.
