| The objective of the Multiple Intelligence
Project is to implement a project that addresses multiple intelligences.
I will design and implement a second grade
Social Studies unit on the community, using the eight multiple intelligences
as a means of assessing the student's knowledge.
This project is to be completed in November.
I have completed this project in October.
I designed and implemented a unit in the Social
Studies curriculum in the area of the community.
-
I spoke to the class about the multiple intelligences. We took a
photo of each child and they placed their picture next to what they felt
was their favorite learning style, on a bulletin board displaying the eight
intelligences.
-
We read and discussed the unit on the community in our Social Studies text.
All worksheets were completed.
-
An objective sheet listing possible projects to fulfill these objectives
was given to each student with a due date. Students could choose
one of these suggested projects or submit one of their own for approval.
They were given the option of working alone or with a classmate on any
project.
-
Students presented their projects to the class the week of October 11-15th.
The class chose projects including; drawing a map of their neighborhood,
making a booklet about their neighborhood, making a chart listing the families
and people in their neighborhood, and dressing up as a community worker,
telling the class in a short speech what that worker does for the community.
-
Students took the end of unit written test.
-
Comments from parents and students were very positive. They all said
they had fun learning this way and wanted to continue this style of learning
throughout the year in Social Studies.
